The closest airport to Lucca is Pisa, but it is a smaller airport that may not have many flights for those traveling from outside of Europe.
Florence is the next closest airport and closest major city. Rome is the largest international airport. Lucca is accessible via train from Pisa, Florence, or Rome airports (as well as most other Italian airports).
Whether you are arriving into Rome, Florence, or Pisa traveling to Lucca is a simple train ride although it may require you to stop/transfer at stations depending on your selected route. Please give yourself at least 2 hours from when your flight lands to when your train departs. Trains arrive in Lucca city center. From there, please take a taxi to your address.
Many other areas of Italy are also connected to Lucca via train if you happen to arrive elsewhere or be traveling throughout the country.

Lucca is a small city that you can travel around on foot or bike. There are taxis available if you plan to leave the city center to somewhere close by, and your hotel front desk should be able to help you, if needed. If you plan to venture further out and would prefer to not use the train system, we would recommend renting a car, as areas of Tuscany can be quite spread out.
Car Rental:
There are many options for car rentals at all Italian airports and train stations depending on where you are arriving. We recommend checking Expedia, Budget, Sixt, or whatever car rental service you are comfortable with. Be sure to request an automatic if you do not drive stick shift as manual cars are standard throughout Europe. You may be more comfortable renting a smaller car due to how narrow some of the Italian rural and city streets can be. Please follow directions via Google maps or your preferred navigation device.
Private transfer:
If you would like to book transportation from the airport to your accommodations, we recommend coordinating through our wedding planner and his assistant (Gabriele and Sara) or Albatros Transit Company.

New regulations dictate that passports should have at least six months of validity when traveling internationally. Most countries will not permit a traveler to enter their country unless the passport is set to expire at least six months after the final day of travel.
Please check your passports as soon as possible and renew if necessary

Most shops/restaurants will accept credit cards, like Visa or Mastercard, with tap technology. But to be safe you can request Euros from your bank before traveling.
-
Please consider the voltage of your electronics such as curling irons, straighteners, etc. American appliances run on 110 volts, while European appliances are 220 volts. If you see a range of voltages printed on the item or its plug (such as "110–220"), you're OK in Europe. You will also need to purchase an adapter that coincides with Italy’s outlets.

It is advised to keep in mind that many of the cars in Europe can be smaller, so remember that when packing your suitcases. Also, many Italian streets are cobblestone and there can be many stairs (not all hotels have elevators!). And packing light makes traveling via train much easier as well.
